About me

My name is Ola. I use forgotten fabrics from a bygone time, giving them a second life. Each piece is unique, created by me from start to finish, with due sensitivity, attention and precision.

I have been learning the craft myself for years. First, I spent 5 years at the Academy of Fine Arts studying Fashion Design, then I worked in the clothing industry for a couple of years, then I got into film for another 5 years, where I sewed costumes, until finally there came a strong urge to start making my own, and this is how Kapotka was born.

Where did the idea come from?

The idea for the brand came from a personal longing for the past and for my grandparents, whom I unfortunately didn't have the opportunity to meet in person. The fabrics made by my grandmothers, which were preserved in our family, gave me a substitute for contact with them.  At some point, the idea of making clothes sewn from fabrics that are the carriers of history and emotion and the warmth of 'grandma's house' came to me. I wanted to start creating clothes that were not just a garment, but something more.

Mission

I want to cultivate the creative fashion of the communist era, for reworking homemade fabrics into unique clothes. However, not because of the limited availability of clothes - as was the case with our mothers and grandmothers - but in disagreement with overproduction and an unethical approach to the environment.
